That was actually hard for me to type that title out. For some reason, my baby boy, turning one, seems impossible. I just re-read through my blog posts from your birth and the first month of your life. I laughed, cried, and laughed some more. From the second you entered this world you have brought a new joy to our lives: Your handsome little smirk and smile make us smile. The way you walk over to your daddy with open arms when he comes home from work and hug him... The way you giggle when you get tickled, or cry when we wipe the continuous snot coming from your nose...The way you steal your sister's toys and try to run away with a wide open smile...The way you pound your hands on your high chair for more food...It all adds to you being our Sam. The little man in our lives.
You may not talk a lot, but your favorite word seems to be Ella. I don't blame you. She's probably more patient with you than I am;)
Your favorite food hands down are blackberries. You would eat a pint of them in one sitting if I let you. However, cleaning up the blackberry stains from your skin afterwards is really not fun for me.
You love being pushed around the neighborhood in your blue sports car. You steer with one hand and look super cool. It's the one toy I am tempted to put away in the attic one day for your own son. You'll be grateful for the extra cup holders to carry your beer. I promise.
You have seven teeth. And you remind me of that daily when you bite my shoulder.
You are ONE. Today is your first birthday and as your mom, I'm a little sad. I am not oblivious to the fact that you have to grow up, but I wish it didn't have to go by so fast. I would love to keep you a swaddled newborn who sleeps on my chest. However, watching you change from this tiny 6 pounder to this walking, babbling, happy, sweet (still tiny) one-year old has been a very awesome journey. You have been an amazing addition to our family, and I can't wait to see what the second year of your life brings to us. I'm guessing complete craziness and a whole lot of love.
