Our Life

I finally found myself needing to empty my computer of stored pictures. Apparently my photos take up over 130GB and it wouldn't let me even upload pictures from my phone to it anymore. Off to the Passport they went! Thank goodness for little devices like that to hold over 1k GB. While I was going through pictures, I was stuck on looking at pictures of Madeline before she got sick. I see her looking healthy, happy, full of energy. Her eyes big and brown and the whites super white. My life has now been put into two categories: before Madeline's illness and after Madeline's illness. The before seemed way less complicated. Way less worrisome. Since being sick all of her fingers and toes have completed the peeling process and she did end up losing a fingernail. The whites of her eyes are still not bright white, but I realize this is all part of the healing process and well, patience is not my strong suit. Her pediatrician here pretty much confirmed she did have Kawasaki (since there isn't an official test, she concluded based on her hospital stay and recovery) and we will be headed to All Children's Hospital in Providence next month for a followup echocardiogram. Let's pray it's normal, and our world won't be full of anxiousness anymore.

She was also recently diagnosed with telogen effluvium which in non scientific terms means she is losing her hair due to a stressor in her life...or a high fever. It could've been her illness, our big move, Sam's birth...any major event in her small life that could have caused this to happen to her. She has less hair now than she did a year ago. I can't even put it in pigtails anymore. If it doesn't start growing again in a month, or it gets thinner, the dr has already ordered bloodwork for her thyroid. Again, lots of prayers for our sweet Madeline:) She has had a rough summer, huh? (mom included!)

Now to catch up on the past 2 months of our life...stay tuned!

Melissa, yet again, you managed to bring me to tears reading your blog posts. You're an amazing Mommy with a beautiful spirit! Keep it strong, for your children will thrive on it! They'll look back at your blog, your photos and see what a beautiful mother, inside & out, that they have. Well done my friend, well done. :) xoxo
